WHAT IS ENGLISH FOR SPECIFIC PURPOSES First of all, I recognize that I didn´t know what ESP was before starting the course. Actually I thought ESP was an abbreviation from "Español", so I was very lost about this term. Once the course started, I realized what it is and I started to laugh due to my mistake.I completely agree with this article and I think this view about what is really ESP and how to teach and learn from it is the key point to prepare every lesson or task properly, our expectation as a student and the must as a teacher. One person who wants to study English for specific purposes does not need the vocabulary, I mean, obviously the vocabulary is essential but we can reach this information by our own. Nowadays the internet is a very useful tool which provides us this vocabulay without effort. However, what a student of ESP needs is a complex and total knowledge about this area to express difficult thoughts that needs to be understood in the area we are working on, and for that aim we need to know professional expessions, complex constructions and the properly way to express ourselves in that context. In my particular case, that´s why I joined this course, because although I learned many things and vocabulary to develop professional ideas, I think we have to do that with our best if we are going to use this knowledge in a job.About this article, I have learned that I was right when I joined this course and my expectations are the same than the real knowledge I´m going to learn according to the text and I´m very happy because we are going to learn ESP into a total sorrounded way. It´s important as well to know the difference between GE and ESP because all of us have studied general grammar, vocabulary and constructions and what we need now, using this knowledge we already have, is focusing this information on a new one, ESP, which will provide us a real useful way to develop ourselves in a different context.About the acronyms I´ve learned, as I wrote above, ESP is a new one for me, as well as ESOL, I knew this one but now I´m sure what it is.P.S: Sorry for handing this task so late, I arrived to Spain some days ago and I´ve had hectic days moving from another country, that´s why I´m doing everything now.
